Three Long Beach divers are headed for Minneapolis, Minnesota for the USA Diving Western Junior National Championships.  Wilson High School Senior, Larry Reinhard, Jr. and Poly High School Sophomore, Deon Reid both qualified to compete in the boys 16-18 year old competition.  Millikan High School Senior, Paulina Guzman qualified in the girls 16-18 competition.

All three divers train at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach with McCormick Divers along with two Huntington Beach Divers.  Thirteen year old Clark Pitti and twelve year old Brandon Loschiavo also qualified for spring nationals in the boys 14-15 and boys 12-13 events.

This is the final Spring Nationals for Larry and Paulina who are moving on to college competition in the fall.  Larry is headed north to Stanford University.  Paulina is staying closer to home where she’ll attend and compete at UCLA as well as the sole representative for the Guatamalan Dive Team.

2010 is Deon’s first Spring Nationals in the boys 16-18 category.  As a sophomore, he is already set to dive well.  He has been training hard since returning from the Youth Olympic Trials in Columbus, Ohio in February.

St. Anthony HS diver Nyko Bodnar competed in the first of a series of invitational meets offered by Bonita High School.  Bodnar received his second best high school career score of 446.90 and received a 1st Place finish.  He heads for the second Bonita High School invite this weekend.
