It was the week of the mollywop for the Moore League, with only two of seven games decided by less than fourteen points. The biggest story of the week may be an injury—last year’s league MVP, John Timu of Jordan, went down early in the Panthers’ game with a knee injury. We should find out his status this weekend—if you’re a local football fan and you want to see good things for local football, join us in crossing your fingers for one of Long Beach’s most dynamic players. Other than that, next week looks a bit more competitive, so be sure to come back for our previews, and of course next week’s coverage!
Cabrillo was hoping to get their first win of the last two years, but ended up losing big to Bosco, whose running back ran wild in Jag Stadium. Click here for the full story.
Compton beat Dominguez for the first time in a decade-plus last season, and this year they made it clear they’re planning on making it a habit, with a huge win over the Dons. Click here for the full story.
Jordan didn’t have a lot to be happy about Friday night, with a three-point loss to Pasadena, as well as the loss of Timu.
Lakewood didn’t look like themselves in the first half, but boy did they in the second, as they took it to Mayfair in the annual Milk Bucket game.
Millikan is sitting pretty at the top of the standings box once again, with a narrow defeat of Redondo that puts them at 3-0.
Poly finally got rid of that doughnut in the win column with a sound win over Narbonne—around the corner is another big test in Oceanside.
Wilson has been up and down this year, and they were very much up against La Serna, with a 32-10 win that was less competitive than the score even indicates.
St. Anthony had another shot at a win, but for the third straight game committed four turnovers, costing them another great opportunity.
