Long Beach’s home of all things boxing, DG Boxing, has recently paired with Find A Dream in order to expand upon the nonprofit’s mission to help kids in need reach their dreams through healthy channels and community.

DG Boxing, named after famed boxer David Gonzales, has maintained part of its presence in Long Beach through Anthony Skalberg. Born and raised in Long Beach, Skalberg was part of a working class family that—like many families with little income—struggled to not fall into the violence that surrounded them. And for Skalberg, that escape was through the DG Boxing on Pacific Coast Highway, where he started boxing when he was 13-years-old. Last year, he opened his own location of DG on North Pine.

In this sense, the pairing with Find A Dream is not only natural but obvious, particularly given how Skalberg once told the Post that he feels he is “now in a position where I can help the neighborhood kids as DG helped me previously.”

“We are very excited about partnering with DG Boxing as we know there are countless kids in the Long Beach area that can benefit from boxing,” said Find A Dream founder Rod Ricciardi. “DG Boxing is already well established, and together we can offer the ultimate facility to keep kids off the streets and give them something positive to focus on.”

On top of Skalberg and his team, Find A Dream Boardmembers and former world champions Ray Mercer, Michael Moorer and Bobby Czyz will be making visits to the gym in order to further enhance the experience as well as give kids the chance to meet some of the most renowned boxers in the world.

DG Boxing has two locations in Long Beach, one at 5660 E Pacific Coast Highway and another at 745 Pine Ave.
