Former Long Beach State golfer John Mallinger recorded a 1-over-par 72 in Friday’s second round of the 110th U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links to continue onto Saturday’s third round.

After 36-holes of play, Mallinger is 7-over 149 as he’s currently tied for 59th place. Mallinger improved by five shots from his opening round of 77 on Thursday as he carded nine bogeys and three birdies. On Friday, Mallinger recorded just two bogeys and one double bogey with three birdies.

Paul Goydos shot a second round score of 76 as he missed the cut with a 10-over 152. Goydos had just one birdie and three double-bogeys for the round.

Graeme McDowell (Northern Ireland) sits on top of the leaderboard at 3-under 139 and holds a two stroke lead over four players tied for second place.

Mallinger is scheduled to tee off at 10:10 a.m.
