10:01am | The Long Beach City College men’s golf team shot 382-381 — 758 to finish in sixth place at the 2011 California Community College Athletic Association Men’s Golf State Championship on Monday at Kings Country Club in Hanford.
Freshmen Jonathan Strang (La Serna High School) and Fidel Rodriguez (Avalon High School) both shot 150 (+6 over par) over two rounds to lead LBCC at the tourney. Rodriguez shot 76-74 while Strang carded 77-73.
Freshman Chris Perez (Valley Christian High School) finished tied for 32nd (74-80—154), while sophomore Kris Bernard (Servite High School) shot 76-80—156 and freshman Patrick Jung (Kennedy High School) shot 79-77—156 to finish tied for 38th place.
LBCC’s top golfer, Peter Prescott (Sydney, Australia), was disqualified during the tournament after Round 1.
Chabot College shot a combined 375-379—754 to win the 2011 team state title. Andrew Perez of College of the Desert shot an impressive 65-73—138 to capture individual medalist honors.
