In this installment of The562.org’s Classics video series, we look back at a 2013 Moore League football overtime thriller between Millikan and Wilson.

The Rams spoiled Wilson’s homecoming festivities with a 36-35 victory thanks to Anthony Carswell’s 19-yard touchdown and a missed Bruins extra point. The win put Millikan into second place in the Moore League for the first time since 2008.

The contest was thrilling from beginning to end but was tarnished by a post-game fight during the handshake line at midfield. One Ram was seriously injured and had to be taken off the field by paramedics. The Long Beach Police Department even asked for our footage the next day.

“It makes me sick to my stomach,” said a distraught Wilson coach John Janzen after the stadium was cleared out. “It’s embarrassing for everyone and it’s not what high school football is about… the game and the 2013 season will forever be scarred by this.”
