As the Moore League girls soccer season kicks off later today, one team rides into the tough schedule with a little added momentum – and it’s not the top-ranked Wilson Bruins.

Millikan took home championship honors from the Ocean View Tournament in Huntington Beach, when Carly Marietti found the net on a second half free kick that gave the Rams a 1-0 victory over Brea.

We’ll find out later today whether the tourney win will translate into Moore League success, as the Rams will visit the Bruins at 3:00pm to begin a highly-anticipated season of girls soccer. Wilson is ranked No. 1 in Division II with Long Beach Poly considered their top competition.

But have the Rams just thrown their name into the hat? Is Lakewood the other team that will contend for league title position? Who will be the big surprise of 2010-11?
