Four local high school football teams entered the Pac-5 Division CIF-SS Playoffs, and on Friday night only one emerged to fight another day. The Moore League was sent packing.

Mater Dei 26 – Long Beach Poly 10
Tough draw to win your league and then open the playoffs against a program like Mater Dei, but that’s the card that Poly drew after an undefeated finish in the Moore League. Click here to read the article and watch the highlight video.

Lakewood 24 – San Clemente 7
The defense looked stellar yet again for the Lancers, the sole Moore League team to advance to the second round and will face Alemany next week. Click here to read the article.

Servite 41 – Jordan 14
The progression in the Panthers this season was evident under first year head coach Thomas Barnes, and Jordan rattled off five wins in their final seven games but couldn’t mount another comeback against mighty Servite. With a very young offensive core you should expect to see the Panthers fighting atop the Moore League standings over the next few seasons.

Mission Viejo 63 – Wilson 34
The Bruins dropped their final four games of the season, including this one where they trailed 49-6 at the half to the number-one seed in the playoffs. At teams the spread offense employed this season really seemed to click and it will be interesting to see what defensive coordinator Scott Meyer is able to do in his second season at Wilson next year.
