The Lakewood Lancers stayed hot and took out rival Millikan in five innings as they mercied the Rams, 13-2, on Tuesday night at Mayfair Park.  Lakewood mashed 16 hits in the five innings and had six extra base hits.

“The girls came out swinging,” said Lakewood coach Andy Miramontes, whose team took second in the Canyon Tournament last week.  “The bats are hot right now, and we stayed aggressive.”

The Lancer offense got started in the top of the first with two outs when Eliza Crawford’s triple was followed by an RBI single from Arielle Palafox.  They added another run on back-to-back errors, and that was all pitcher Justine Avalos needed.

The ace only gave up two hits over the five innings, and Brittany Adler’s two-run triple in the third inning was the only ball that left the infield.

Avalos helped herself with an RBI double in the second inning that started a six run inning.  Amanda Robinson brought Avalos in with a single, and three batters later, Sarah Carrasco cleared the bases with an inside the park home run to make it 8-0.

The Tuesday mercy rule is exactly how Miramontes and the Lancers (6-0) want to go into their rematch with Wilson (5-1) on Thursday.  Come back to LBPostSports.com on Thursday morning for a preview of the game that will decide the Moore League title.
