It’s been a tough day of football, but we cheer ourselves up with our usual mix of Long Beach sports talk.

Continuing to look strong, the 49ers beat Fullerton 1-0, improving their conference record to 4-0-1.

We gave them a run for their money, but on Saturday the No. 1 USC Trojans’ water polo team was too much for the LBSU 49ers.

They put the offensive struggles of last week behind them, but the Vikings lost a horse race with Saddleback Saturday evening.

It was a good weekend for 49er athletics, with a strong finish for golf on Friday, wins from volleyball and soccer, and a double-barreled cross country title to boot.

LBSU teams had a nice time beating up on Riverside over the weekend, as volleyball won in straight sets and soccer eased their way into a 4-1 win.

There was some scoring, and then some more, and then a lot more in the 2nd quarter. Like, a lot! We’re covering the Saints now, and even though our coverage didn’t start with a win, you have to check out this wild game. Did we mention there was a lot of scoring?

The Wilson Bruins improve to 4-3 on the season and 2-1 in league with a sizable victory over the winless Cabrillo Jaguars.
