Thanks to a dominating defensive performance and clutch play from its multi-talented offense, Poly defeated the Clovis North Broncos Friday night at Vet’s Stadium 28-7 and will play the Granite Bay Grizzlies next weekend for the state championship.
The Jackrabbits spotted Clovis North an early touchdown, then reeled off 28 consecutive points, starting with a touchdown pass on 4th and 9 from 2nd-string quarterback Eban Jackson to superstar receiver John “Ju Ju” Smith.
Like Poly, the Granite Bay (just northeast of Sacramento) Grizzlies lost three of their first four games but rebounded to become one of the best teams in the state.
The two squads are set to battle for the state championship next Friday night at Home Depot Center.
