Reports From David Zanatta
Saint Anthony Students, Parents, Alumni, Sponsors and the Public at large showed up for Saturday’s 1st Annual St. Anthony High School’s 5k Run / Walk organized through the SAHS Parents and Educator in Partnership (PEP) group. All proceeds benefit St. Anthony High School’s Academic and Athletic programs.
More than 160+ racers/walkers were treated to a beautiful Long Beach sunrise and morning in the Shore, raising a record $6,000+ for Academic and Athletic Programs at Long Beach’s “ONLY” Catholic College Preparatory High School serving Long Beach since 1920 (90 years). St. Anthony students come from diverse cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds and participate in a rigorous program of academic excellence and extra-curricular activities throughout the City and Region.
A “Who’s, Who” Alumni from all over the Southern California area joined students; their parents and the general public to make this 1st Annual event a great success. First, second and third place runners in each age category received medals and shirts to commemorate this first year event. After the race runners and walkers joined at the Belmont Brewer for a special after race buffet to celebrate. Watch for the race next year at this same time and join in on the fun.
