Cabrillo senior pitcher Janessa Martinez hurled a no-hitter yesterday as the Jaguars got their school-record ninth win of the season, 8-1, over Jordan. Martinez allowed an unearned run while striking out 13 Panthers.

“Janessa has been our team leader all year long and the best pitcher I have had the priviledge to coach,” said Cabrillo head coach Armando Padilla.  “You always know you have a shot to compete with her. Definitely not someone you can replace… I just hope she can inspire others with her effort.”  The senior will be pitching at East Los Angeles College next year.

Junior catcher Siria Duran added three hits, and RBI and a run scored.  Senior Elena Gutierrez scored three runs on two base hits to go with two stolen bases.

The Jaguars will return home next Tuesday to see Wilson for Senior Day
