Second-place Wilson couldn’t hang with first place and undefeated Lakewood in a battle for Moore League boys’ tennis supremacy yesterday, and after the two teams split the first six sets, the Lancers closed it out in the second and third round of play on their way to a 12-6 victory over the Bruins.
Lakewood was victorious seven times in singles. Freshman Sidney Tan swept while Kyle Porter and Bret Silverstein both won twice.
Ryan Blanchette and Kyle Fredrichs won twice at the No. 1 doubles position for Wilson while Ben Kray and Ricky Rideout did the same from No.1 position for Lakewood. Lancers Chad Kaaukai and John Boylan also won twice.
Lakewood improved to 11-0 and 7-0 in the Moore League. With the loss, Wilson fell to 5-2 in league, and will host Millikan on Thursday.
