the562.org Classics: 2008 Long Beach Basketball Championship

In this, the fifth installment of The562.org’s Classics video series, we look back at the phenomenal 2008 Long Beach girls’ basketball season.

After sharing the Moore League title, Long Beach Poly and Millikan were the top two seeds in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 bracket. The Rams had upset the Jackrabbits in the regular season, but the Jackrabbits exacted their revenge by winning the championship in a blowout at Walter Pyramid.

The title was the third of five consecutive CIF-SS and State championships for Poly.

The highlight was also just the second Long Beach sports video that the Long Beach Post produced, and Mike and JJ talk about covering those early games without a press pass.
