Here at LBPostSports.com we spent the 2008 World Series following two of Long Beach’s finest ball players. Tomorrow during the MLB All-Star Game at Legends Sports Bar, we’ll be doing the same thing.
Long Beach Poly Jackrabbit Chase Utley and Long Beach State Dirtbag Evan Longoria will both be starting for the National and American League tonight at 5pm, so come out to Legends to enjoy the game at the best sports bar in Long Beach.
Starting at second base, Utley wrapped up the first half hitting .313 with 20 homers, 61 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and 62 runs scored. The Phillies sit atop the NL East by four games over Florida, but the Philly highlight for the first half has to be Utley’s inside-the-park home run last week.
Longoria hit .285 with 17 home runs and 66 RBIs in the first half, and despite some nagging injuries and a slow start, the third baseman has helped his Rays stay in the hunt (6.5 gb) in the uber-talented AL East.
Come join Long Beach and baseball fans alike at Legends, and if you’re struggling to decide which Long Beach baller to pull for, just decide if you’re an Angles or Dodgers fan. Because this game counts, and if you want your team (knock on wood) to have home-field advantage in the World Series, you should be rooting for that league. See you there!
