UPDATE 3:26pm Tuesday | Long Beach State Associate Athletic Director Bill Brady has provided us with several more hi-res images of the proposed updates to Blair Field, in extreme detail. One of the most noticeable features is the addition of two large viewing suites, and four smaller ones along the right field line.

Brady also tells us that no groundbreaking goal nor final cost estimate are available, because an analysis is still ongoing. But, he says, fundraising efforts are already underway. Check out the detailed plans below and let us know in the Comments section: What do you think?

2:46pm Monday | The Long Beach State Athletics Department has released a few renderings of a proposed redesign to iconic Blair Field, which plays home to the Dirtbags and Wilson High Bruins and last saw a facelift in 1993.

The stadium recently added a new scoreboard, but these renderings show a much more expansion update that includes administrative offices alongside right field, a practice infield in deep left field and a new press box (Editor’s note: Yes!). There are also enclosed batting cages and bullpen mounds. We could even see the age of luxury boxes make its way into Blair.

Reports indicate that construction is several years away, and dependent upon the need for an $8 to $12 million fundraising effort. The designs were produced by HKS Sports And Entertainment and Steinberg Architects.

We’ll have much more information available as we learn more.
