VIDEO: A look at Lakewood-Poly’s classic 2008 playoff football game

In this installment of’s Classics video series, we look back at the 2008 CIF Pac-5 football semifinal between Moore League rivals Long Beach Poly and Lakewood in front of a capacity crowd at Cerritos College.

The Jackrabbits and Lancers battled throughout a thrilling contest that saw Poly come back and score 20 unanswered points in a 20-10 victory.

Both teams had a bevy of future NCAA talent on their rosters, but the stars who didn’t make it to the next level like runningbacks Jerry Stone and Melvin Richardson dominated the proceedings.

This video features an unforgettable crackback block, and is also one of the first videos produced by Mike & JJ when they first worked with Long Beach Post. They don’t hold back on the self-critique in this classic recall.
