In this installment of The562.org’s Classics video series, we look back at how great Long Beach girls’ volleyball was in 2010.

Long Beach Poly and Lakewood were both at the top of their games and were both ranked Top 20 in the nation. They had a combined 10 scholarship athletes on the floor and their Moore League battles were epic— from the quality of play to the quantity of crowd support.

The Jackrabbits edged the Lancers on their way to a CIF championship and a CIF State finals appearance, but Lakewood also earned some postseason glory by knocking off No. 1 ranked Harvard Westlake in the early rounds.

One of the reasons we’ve chosen this game to recall is because former Lakewood stars Megan Moenoa and Tyler Jackson are both coaching Long Beach volleyball teams this year. Jackson has taken over at Long Beach City College and Moanoa is at Poly coaching the Jackrabbits.
