Then-Poly head coach Raul Lara congratulates his Jackrabbits on their win over St. John Bosco and reminds them they have one more game to go for another CIF title. They'd win the title the following week against Mater Dei.

In this, the second installment of The562.org’s Classics video series, Mike and JJ look back on an unforgettable 2012 CIF-SS semifinal football game between Long Beach Poly and St. John Bosco.

Played in front of 11,000 fans at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Fog Bowl, as everyone refers to it, found the Jackrabbits using another reconfigured rushing attack to control the clock and hold on for a 13-10 victory over Bosco.

But, it was the thick fog that descended upon the field in the second half that would define a game that served as a pivot point for local high school football. Poly hasn’t reached a CIF-SS championship since 2012 while Bosco hasn’t missed a CIF-SS championship game since. The Braves would win the 2013 CIF State title.

This game featured four future NFLers (JuJu Smith-Schuster, Josh Rosen, Jayon Brown, Biggie Marshall) a future professional baseball player (Tai Tiedemann) and enough future college football stars on both teams to stock a full, strong starting lineup.
