In this latest installment of The562.org’s Classics video series, we look back at a local battle in the 2013 CIF State Basketball playoffs between Long Beach Poly and St. John Bosco.

The tight contest saw 13 lead changes and a pair of 10-0 runs in the second half, before Jordan Bell’s buzzer beater gave Poly a 61-59 victory in front of 2,600 at Cerritos College.

Bell and Bosco’s Daniel Hamilton and Tyler Dorsey all went on to be NBA draft picks. Dorsey and Bell also helped Oregon reach the 2017 NCAA Final Four.

The Chicago Bulls selected Bell 38th overall that year and traded him to the Golden State Warriors where he won an NBA Championship as a rookie. Poly captain Roschon Prince and about a dozen other players from this game also went on to have successful college careers. Prince was named California Gatorade Player Of The Year in 2013 and played for both USC and Long Beach State.

The crowd at Cerritos that night was one of the loudest we’ve ever experienced, and you can hear that when we isolate the audio of a thunderous Bell blocked shot. It’s a must-see for anyone jonesing for a basketball highlight.
