VIDEO: Poly High football’s classic revenge against Grant


In this installment of’s classics video series, we look back at an unforgettable 2011 Long Beach Poly football road trip to Sacramento to play Grant High.

The Jackrabbits season opener was billed as a rematch of the 2008 CIF State championship game won by Grant High, and the visitors got their revenge. Poly star Randall Goforth actually broke his hand blocking an extra point in the final minutes to clinch the 24-23 victory.

Goforth went on to play at UCLA and won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles. Grant star Shaq Thompson is currently one of the leading tacklers for the Carolina Panthers.
