“The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect had engaged in a verbal dispute with one another while inside the residence prior to the shooting occurring,” a police spokeswoman said.
The shootings happened within a half mile of each other but do not appear related, authorities said.
The man told police he heard a loud pop and saw that he had been hit.
The victim was shot in his lower extremities and torso and transported to a local hospital by paramedics.
The suspects are male, police said, and the incident is being investigated as possibly gang related.
Police do not yet know the motive for the shooting but said the suspect is a woman.
A teenager took himself to a hospital after being shot outside a home in North Long Beach Thursday night, according to authorities.
Officers found bullet casings in the street and a 16-year-old who’d been shot in the upper body, police said.
The shooting happened at about 1:20 a.m. as the bus was on the Grapevine section of 5 Freeway high in the mountains between L.A. and the San Joaquin Valley.
Officials said victims were “approached by a small group of male suspects” who attempted to rob them and ended up shooting at them.
