The construction of a new Chuck E. Cheese's at City Place forced three restaurants--Fresh Kabobs, Milana’s New York Pizzeria and Mitaki Restaurant--to move across the street. But their new locations aren't ready as promised and the business owners worry about customer retention while they are closed.
The current Beach Plaza Hotel, a 40 room hotel that sits on the south side of Ocean Blvd. at Cherry Ave., will soon become a four-story, 33-unit residential complex with 72 hotel rooms, including valet parking, and a restaurant and lounge. Traffic modifications will be made to the intersection to accomodate the new development.
Recently, the Downtown Long Beach Associates released its annual Economic Profile, which provides a comprehensive overview of the Downtown’s economic landscape. According to the report, the average resident in Downtown today is a young, educated professional with higher than average earning potential–a new trend that has only emerged over the last decade along with the area’s growing population.
