Hot chicken wings: The unofficial food of the Super Bowl. This batch is from EJ's Pub in Bixby Knolls. Courtesy photo.

According to no less a reliable source than the National Chicken Council, Americans ate 1.42 billion chicken wings last Super Bowl Sunday. It’s a staggering and somewhat horrifying number that initially seems impossible, but according to my admittedly wobbly math skills, comes out to about 4.3 chicken wings per American, and bigod when Americans all work together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.

Further, simple mathematics will tell you that if you’re going to have a group of 10 at your house watching the game on Sunday, in order to keep up with the stats you’re going to need to have 43 wings to serve—and maybe a few more to help make up for the inevitable chicken wing-deniers in the country.

To help you get the job done, here are a few places to score  your chicken wings for Super Bowl LVI.

EJ’s Pub has wings for every taste bud. Want to impress your guests? Try the Nuke. Want to blow the back of your head off? Go with the Super Nuke. For less explosive wings, there’s mild and medium Buffalo, Cajun, lemon pepper and Kentucky and Carolina barbecue. You can make your pre-order by calling EJ’s anytime between now and Feb. 9, because they want to make sure all orders will be filled in time for you to pick them up before 1:30 on Game Day. A large order is 24 wings for $31 and it comes with a basket of regular, Cajun or garlic fries. For additional wings, it’s eight for $14.
