The annual Bike Fest, organized by the Downtown Long Beach Associates, begins tomorrow and as a proud sponsor, the Post invites you to not only hop on your two-wheel awesomeness, but visit us at the Post Mobile as we hand out water bottles, t-shirts, and good vibes.
Bike Fest marks Long Beach’s official launch into National Bike Month and offers Long Beach bicyclists—from the entirely inexperienced to those most avid of pedal-ers—an area to not only ride, but chill, interact, drink, eat, and just celebrate the love of bikes.
This year marks Wolfpack Hustle’s inaugural Long Beach crit, or criterium, a race for the highest speeds and most skilled turns within a pack of those most dedicated to becoming the most impressive at using their two wheels for speed. It’s considered the highlight of Bike Fest this year since Wolfpack is not only massively influential in the bike world, but is known across the country for its nighttime crits that oftentimes have thousands of riders.
Qualifying runs for the crit begin at 3PM with the finals beginning at 8PM.
Another highlight is Stylish by Bikes, where the idea that a bike is just tool rather than a form of fashion is subverted. The best of the best in clothing and bike restoration will show off their vintage and contemporary best in what was a crowd favorite at last year’s Bike Fest. Contest begins at 5PM while awards will be announced at 6PM.
Other events include:
- Live Music from Fathers & Suns at 2PM
- Craft Beer Garden hosted by Beachwood which runs through 10PM
- Kids Activities beginning at 2PM
- Vintage Bike Round Up at 2:30PM
- Live Music from California Lions at 3:30PM
- City Cross Awards Announced at 7PM
The fun begins tomorrow in the East Village Arts District (1st & Linden) at 2PM. Admission in free (just not the beer). And even better, you’ll get to meet some of the familiar faces of the Post family.
