On Saturday, May 2nd, Students from each division of the College of the Arts will showcase their talents in Art, Graphic Design, Dance, Music, Film, and Theatre throughout the evening.

Creator of Fusion, Patricia Garza, an alumni MFA/MBA student from the Theatre Arts Department, started the event to evoke collaboration and unity between the disparate departments of the College of the Arts and the downtown community.

“I feel that art in Long Beach and art on campus are so vital to the community’s growth. There is an urgent need for events happening in both places to be combined to create a more cohesive relationship.”

Co-Producers of Fusion for this year are two students from the Art Department, Nadine Flores and Sonia Otero.  The duo strives to incorporate their art aesthetic with the art world and Downtown Long Beach.

“We feel that there must be greater art to come if we only work together and reach out to all our resources and produce great pieces for a great community.”

The mission of Fusion is to promote partnerships between art students and foster the nascent coalition of artists on campus with those off-campus.  Come, be part of this event and help start the movement to bring Cal State arts to Downtown Long Beach!

Fusion is May 2, 2009 at the French Ballroom at Lafayette Building 140 Linden Avenue in Downtown Long Beach.  Parking is available in surrounding lots starting at $4 and or street metered parking.
