Culture Shock Los Angeles, L.A.’s premier nonprofit Hip-Hop dance company, will present “A Beautiful Struggle,” on Saturday, May 10th at the Long Beach Terrace Theatre. Inspired by Ray Bradbury’s classic novel, Fahrenheit 451, and the true-life experiences of L.A. residents, this progressive dance production uses urban street dance and art forms to promote the importance of creative self-expression and the value of using art as a form of therapy. Proceeds from the evening’s performance will benefit Creative Planet School for the Arts and Culture Shock LA’s countywide arts education programs.

“A Beautiful Struggle” tells the story of four individuals who dare to create in a time when artistic expression has been outlawed. Inspired by the real life experiences of those whose lives have been deeply touched by the arts and inexorably changed by a belief in themselves, this unique original work uses music, art, spoken word, and dance to bring their stories to the stage. This truly collaborative effort includes performances by RhetOracle Dance Company, Creative Planet, Culture Shock San Diego, and members of the Jabbawockeez (recent winners of America’s Best Dance Crew).

“A Beautiful Struggle” begins at 8:00pm on Saturday, May 10th at the Long Beach Terrace Theatre located at 300 East Ocean Blvd in the City of Long Beach. Tickets are available for $20 pre-sale (through Ticketmaster or www.ShockLA.com) and $25 at the door.
