A Netflix original sequel to the movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” filmed scenes in Long Beach last week, according to a person familiar with the project.

Filming for the movie, “The Adventures of Cliff Booth,” took place on Aug. 4 along Marina Drive, directly across from Mother’s Beach, according to the person, who was not authorized to talk about it.

Scenes consisted of driving shots and “walk-and-talks” outside the condominiums along Marina Drive, the person said, adding that filming is likely “wrapped as far as Long Beach goes.”

Filming for the movie also took place in Los Angeles’ Highland Park neighborhood late last month and will reportedly continue across LA until late this year.

Brad Pitt stars in the movie as Cliff Booth, reprising his role as a 1960s Hollywood stunt double in the 2019 film directed by Quentin Tarantino. Pitt won an Oscar for his portrayal of Booth.

The sequel, which David Fincher directs, is set in the late 1970s, eight years after the events of the original movie. It will focus on Booth’s work as a fixer in the film industry.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothy Olyphant and Margot Robbie are rumored to reprise their roles as Rick Dalton, James Stacy and Sharon Tate, respectively.

Confirmed cast members include Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena and Corey Fogelmanis.

Tarantino wrote for the sequel and previously expanded on Booth’s character in a 2021 novel released under the same name as the 2019 movie.

“The Adventures of Cliff Booth” will head straight to Netflix when it is released.

It’s not the only new production where you might soon catch a glimpse of Long Beach on the screen. Earlier this summer, Apple TV+ filmed scenes along the Promenade between Third and Fifth streets for an upcoming show called “Lucky,” starring Anya Taylor-Joy.
