And from three it’s down to one. The Los Altos location of EJ Malloy’s, off of Bellflower Boulevard just south of Stearns Street, has announced it will be permanently closing after serving the suburban neighborhood for nearly six years.

The youngest of what used to be a trio of EJ’s—its flagship brick-and-mortar in Belmont Heights that is now The Firkin and its Bixby Knolls locations, EJ’s Pub—made the announcement of their closure via Facebook:

It was 2018 when the original location shuttered its space after serving Belmont Heights for three decades. The Irish-meets-American sports pub first opened in 1992 after it replaced another bar that was around for several decades, Karl’s Little Bavaria, a long-forgotten pub of the past along the eastern edge of the Broadway corridor. (The owners of Karl’s eventually moved into Naples with Anneliese’s Bavarian Inn.)

EJ’s Pub in Bixby Knolls, which replaced Russel’s in 2006 and is located at 4306 Atlantic Ave., will remain open.
