Friends of El Dorado Dog Park (FEDDP), the community group leading the way to create a dog park in the 4th District, are asking supporters to vote in a special contest entitled “Bark for Your Park,” an initiative by PetSafe that will grant $100,000 to the winner.

FEDDP is a non-profit 501 c 3 organization dedicated to getting a premier dog park on the Eastside of Long Beach, where the group feels — despite minor opposition — it is much needed. The location for the dog park was approved by the Parks & Recreation Commissioners.

Mary Matthiesen, President of FEDDP, insisted that this is not only a fun way to raise additional funds, but the key in the group’s goal of getting the additional $75,000 to $125,000 needed to establish the park. After two years of fundraising, the group has raised some $73,000.

“The creation of our Eastside dog park raises community awareness about who we are and what we are doing. And we want people to know that we are reaching out for their help in getting it done,” said Matthiesen. “We have been working very hard — so we need everyone to bark for your park!”

If you support and want to help FEDDP, simply click here, login, and vote for Long Beach; if you have Facebook you can vote again by clicking here. You can vote twice a day, every day, until the contest is over on June 13th! You do not need to reside in Long Beach.
