zines1The Long Beach Public Library just stepped up its DIY game and will now be offering free zine workshops for the next three Saturdays. If you’ve ever been interested in self-publishing your ideas, your feelings or your cause in a creative manner, but simply haven’t found the time or motivation, now’s your chance to get this zine ball rolling.

Guest speaker, librarian and zinester Ziba Perez Zehdar of ThreeAmigosPress and the zine “ZebraPizza” will share her expertise and teach you all about zines and how you can make your very own. Supplies will be provided by the LBPL, however, feel free to bring some of your own as well. Examples of materials include markers, colored pencils, pens, paper, stickers, tape, glue, staples, scissors, discarded books or magazines to cut up for a scrapbook style zine.

Sessions will be held January 24, January 31 and February 7 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at The STUDIO at the Main Library, located at 101 Pacific Ave in downtown Long Beach. For more information, please call (562) 570-7500 and to RSVP, click here.
