From Psycadella Facade to Jewels, Hamburger Mary’s on a Sunday evening was expectedly teeming with the best in drag, but also… perhaps less expectedly, singers from Long Beach Opera. It was all for a fundraising event for the local performing arts company, a fresh take on the stuffy, annual gala, where instead of a black tie occasion, drag queens and opera divas teamed up to give performances that the liquored-up, buffet-filled crowd seemed to absolutely relish (including the chocolate cake).
