Imagine yourself on a balcony relaxing in a wicker rocking chair. A cool winter breeze billows across a scenic view of a beach littered with palm trees. You can’t help but notice the beauty of the setting sun with gleaming rays reflecting off the surface of the Pacific Ocean. Does it sound impossible?

It may, but it really could be you—or a friend of yours, thanks to holiday gfits—on one of Hotel Catalina’s balconies overlooking Avalon Bay on Catalina Island.Catalina3

Hotel Catalina, along with 19 other Avalon hotels, is part of Catalina Express and Paradise Hotel Partners’ “Best of Winter” offers on combination boat and hotel packages through March 2017, according to Catalina Express officials.

“Catalina Express’ Best of Winter deals include round trip transportation, hotel accommodations, more room to roam and other perks, with savings of up to 65 percent off,” said Catalina Express Spokesperson Karen Gee-McAuley, pointing to the many benefits of visiting the island during the “off” season.

Each boat and hotel package includes round trip transportation on the Catalina Express with Dana Point departure costing $2 extra, according to express officials. Some Avalon hotels also offer continental breakfast or wine and cheese hours. Other highlights include events on the island such as “Avalon Home Tour”, where guests can experience Avalon’s most memorable homes, on December 10. Events on Catalina Island offered by the Express can be found here.

The “Best of Winter” package further includes a one or two night stay in a standard room with upgrades available, a 10 percent discount for breakfast, lunch or dinner at four Catalina Hotspots restaurants and 10 percent discount on Catalina Adventure Tours. Catalina Hotspots restaurants include El Galleon Steakhouse, Mi Casita Mexican Restaurant, Antonio’s Pizzeria & Cabaret on the Waterfront and Original Jack’s Country Kitchen.

Along with this winter deal, Santa Catalina Island Company also offers winter specials at Pavilion Hotel and Mt. Ada, Catalina Express officials stated. Rates for Pavilion Hotel start at $127 per person or night with savings of $105 per person or night. Mt. Ada rates start at $250 a night or per person and savings of $95. Other hotels include The Avalon Hotel, Portofino Hotel, Snug Harbor Inn and others. A full listing of hotel packages is provided here.

“These are really important deals and it’s a great opportunity to visit a beautiful island,” said Gee-McAuley.
