The organizers of the Long Beach Bike Festival have partnered with the Arts Council for Long Beach, Phantom Galleries LA, the California Art Club, and the Long Beach Museum of Art to mount an ambitious exhibition of recent works that feature Long Beach. Back in March, artists created Plein Air paintings that captured the unique spirit and vitality of our City.
More than 70 works were submitted for the exhibition. Of those, about 25 will be selected for display in the Long Beach Museum of Art, from May 10th through the 24th. The rest will be exhibited during the Bike Festival, this Saturday, from 10 AM to 9 PM at the Phantom Galleries LA space located at 170 N. Promenade, on the South East corner of Broadway & The Promenade. They’re hosting a ‘Meet The Artists’ reception from 7 – 9 PM.
The Long Beach Bike Festival starts today and runs through Sunday. Events are being held all over the City, but of special interest is Sunday’s ‘4th Street in Motion‘ festival, which will take place on (you guessed it) 4th Street between Cherry and Junipero, right in the midst of ‘Retro Row.’
Celebrate Mother’s Day with live music, special screenings at The Art Theatre (they’re showing The Triplets of Belleville, a favorite of mine), lots of food, a beer garden, fun stuff for kids, and even the Long Beach Craft Mafia. Oh, and it’s mostly free!
