2:00pm | Members of both the Long Beach Fire Department and Police Department took a moment to reflect this morning, with a memorial ceremony dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony took place at the Police and Fire Memorial near police headquarters on Chestnut Avenue and Broadway, at 9:00am this morning.
A bagpiper played Amazing Grace and a bugler played Taps as a fog rolled over downtown. A 21-gun salute rang through the thick air, and speeches from Police Chief Jim McDonnell, Fire Deputy Chief Jeff Reeb and Mayor Bob Foster remembered those who have served.
