The golden retreiver who was inside of its owner’s RV when it was intentionally set on fire in January has been adopted by a new family, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) said Thursday.

rescuedRVfiredogPuddles, a two-year-old golden retreiver mix, was living with Thomas Taylor in his motorhome parked in an alley in the block of 500 W. 17th St. when Taylor was murdered and the RV set ablaze. Three people have been arrested in connection with the fire, which led to an investigation into Taylor’s death.

According to Long Beach Animal Care Services, Puddles was inside the RV when it was set on fire and she rushed out when Long Beach Police arrived. She was placed inside a police cruiser until ACS retreived her.

“Puddles is in good health, but a little apprehensive.  This is understandable as she has been through so much, losing her home and companion and having that terrifying experience of the fire,” said Madeline Bernstein, President spcaLA.  “Now she can continue to recover in her new home.”
