Salud Juice Reopens Into Bigger, Brighter, Better Retro Row Space

Salud Juice has officially reopened into a glorious, naturally-lit new space on 4th Street and Cherry Avenue. Now patrons can toast to their health, chow down on a myriad of vegan and gluten-free menu items and enjoy spending time on the well-traversed corner of one of Long Beach’s most popular business corridors.

Beachwood BBQ and Brewing took home four medals from The Brewers Association’s 2018 World Beer Cup awards in Nashville, a bronze for its Hoppa Emeritus in the American-Style Black Ale category, a silver for the Pablo Escobeer in the Coffee Beer category, and silvers for its Mocha Machine and Udder Love attributed to its Huntington Beach taproom.

It’s easier to understand and appreciate Beachwood’s consistency as medal-winners for their independtly-made brews year after year with a little bit of Long Beach beer history, touched upon here by LongBeachize. Local food blogger Brian Addison dives head-first into why supporting independent brewers in this age of corporate takeovers of craft companies (ahem, Ballast Point) is incredibly important.

Head over to Do Good Donuts Saturday and Mother’s Day for a specially made cronut (while supplies last) in collaboration with Long Beach-based Colossus Bread. This product from the two pastry-driven powerhouses are sure to please mom, alongside floral arrangements by Los Angeles, Seattle florists Primary Petals.

The owners of Aji Peruvian Cuisine just opened La Bodega Sangucheria Peruana next door, right beside Portfolio Coffeehouse on 4th Street’s Retro Row, EATER LA reported earlier this month. Owners Mitto Barriga and Rosita Wang wanted the new eatery to resemble the traditional sandwich shops found throughout Peru, offering marinated meats, Peruvian pasta dishes, and more.

Starting Thursday, May 24, Long Beach Fresh will host its first-ever Foodway Summit, consisting of community gatherings held throughout the city to address hunger relief, reducing food waste, chef culture, affordable and fair food and food in urban environments. The summit is set to run through May 31, with more details to be announced. So far Chef “T” Visoth Ouk has been confirmed as participant. Keep up to date with Long Beach Fresh here.
