We’ve pointed out National Repeal Day before as one of our favorite bars toward the north is having an unabashed celebration of the time we stopped prohibition.

Now our favorite steakhouse is taking on the honors of bringin’ booze to the forefront of people’s attention spans as Chianina decides to take The Exhibition Room’s cue and turn itself into a speakeasy—password and all.

“We’re pulling out all the stops for guests to see what it was like to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine before Repeal Day, without the threat of being arrested of course,” said owner Michael Dene. “This promises to be one of the most fun events of the year and a chance for women to let their inner flappers out while men do their best Al Capone impression.”

As with any genuine speakeasy, Chianina’s front door will be locked with diners required to offer a password they’ll receive by making a reservation.

“Once they enter, guests will be transported back to the 1920s with a live jazz band playing music all night and dinner and drink specials available in addition to the regular menu,” said Chianina spokesperson Nick Valente. “Caviar and champagne servers will also be working the room all night as a throwback to the opulence of the 1920s.”

All that jazz, baby.

Chianina is located at 5716 E 2nd St. For reservations, please call 562-434-2333.
