El Pollo Loco to open this summer in former Jack in the Box spot in Belmont Shore

Popular fast food chain El Pollo Loco will move into the former Jack in the Box location on Second Street in Belmont Shore, property owners said Tuesday.

Located at Second Street and Covina Avenue, Jack in the Box was a Belmont Shore staple since 1961 before shuttering last year after deciding not to renew its lease.

But have no fear, another fast food restaurant is coming soon.

Joe Seibert of Lorbeer Enterprises, which owns the property, said El Pollo Loco has signed a lease and expects to begin construction in May. The restaurant is expected to open in August.
