The great folks behind We Love Long Beach are at it again, hosting a FREE community breakfast in the Los Altos area. This Saturday, March 27th, you can show up near the playground at Los Altos Park (West of Bellflower Blvd and North of Stearns St.) between 9-11AM for breakfast and a chance to get to know some of your neighbors in the community.

Yes, it is free. We Love LB’s mission, according to their website, is “To Know and Serve The People, The Neighborhoods, and The City of Long Beach, CA”. Founded by siblings Scott and Robin Jones in 2008, We Love LB is a non-profit (501c3) community organization that began “after extending a breakfast invitation to fifty of their neighbors. It was a free breakfast in the park with no other agenda than for neighbors to have the chance to get to know one another. Scott recounts, ‘After that first event, one of my neighbors actually hugged me goodbye. I was surprised and couldn’t stop thinking about how little I knew about each of them; who they are, what they do, what makes them happy and what their needs might be. That hug gave me a glimpse of how simply knowing and trusting my neighbors could change this city for the better.'”

These are just some of the great people that are doing their part to bring the best of Long Beach together. Make sure you stop by Los Altos Park on Saturday to meet them, and hopefully a few more. Something as simple as an occasional free breakfast has already turned into a powerful community movement. This is a great chance to be a part of it and love Long Beach even more than you already do. See you there!
