We love the word free: freedom of press, free education… But we know things can’t always be free, particularly libations. But Fuego at Hotel Maya wants to alter all that with free tequila tastings.

reservaanejocopy-1Yes. Free. Tequila. Tonight from 6PM to 9:45PM.

In a partnership with 1921 Tequila, Fuego and team will be presenting four different tequilas from 1921 (Blanco, Reposado, Anejo, Crème) along with a 20-minute seminar that will go over the history, production process, and general awesomeness that is an inherent part of the Mexican diet.

The event makes sense given Fuego has one of the largest tequila sections in SoCal.

“By partnering with 1921 Tequila we are able to showcase some of the premier tequilas that are available everyday in Fuego,” said Jeff Gillis, Director of Restaurant Operations at Hotel Maya. “The tequila tastings also provide the opportunity to leverage the talents of Fuego Executive Chef Victor Juarez and his unique Latin American culinary skills with 1921 Tequilas for a delicious four-course dinner.”

While the tequila tasting is free, the (optional) dinner costs $55 (not bad considering the menu).

Chef Juarez will be serving Ceviche Tropical with mahi-mahi, chipotle, lime coconut, scallions, cucumber, ginger, and pico de gallo; Grilled Lamb Chop with chimichurri, pepper escabeche, spring sweet peas, roasted sweet potato, and cotija cheeses; Fire Roasted Poblano Chili with quinoa, butternut squash, grilled onions, cilantro, goat cheese, pumpkin seed salsa, avocado, fresh cream, tomatillo sauce, and Gordo beans; and Molten Chocolate Cake with fresh whipped cream, and strawberry coulis.
