The Scotsman IceMobile.
For the typical American who has traveled, there is one thing that becomes irksome: no one loves ice quite like the good ol’ U.S. of A. (nor do they so cleverly ignore the many issues of water sourcing/energy consumption when complaining about a lack of ice). Combine this love of ice with with a culture currently obsessed with artisinal-anything, and we have the almighty, life-altering concept of craft ice.
For those frosty connoisseurs out there, ice is an important part of one’s daily liquid consumption and just as importantly, the type of ice is not to be dismissed as a trivial part of the beverage experience.
Enter the Scotsman IceMobile, which will bring the battle of the Cube versus the Nugget onto the grounds of our fair city. For Larry Lozar, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Scotsman, this battle is not to be taken lightly.
“We are dedicated to making every drink the absolute best it can be,” Lozar said, “and that means creating the perfect ice for different beverages and for different entertaining occasions.”
If one craves the rich flavor of their drink but wants it cooled—say, a whiskey-based drink like an Old Fashioned—then the cube is the way to go: melting slower than its smaller siblings, cubes don’t clump and maintain a consistent coolness throughout the life of your drink. If you’re the type of drinker that loves to munch down on their ice once your beverage is gone, nothing beats the beauty of Sonic ice: tiny little nuggets that harken back to the nostalgic days of greasy-spoon cafes, while providing the pleasure of both cooling one’s tasty beverage while sating neurotic tics that cause one to impulsively gnaw away at the bunches of frozen water.
“This is why we have two machines: The Brilliance Gourmet Cuber and The Brilliance Nugget Ice Machine, which the people of Long Beach will be able to taste and judge for themselves with lemonade and iced tea,” Lozar said.
Pushing the hashtags of #CraveTheCube or #LoveTheNug, patrons visiting the IceMobile are encouraged to take culinary pernicketyness to a whole new level.
#ChooseYourIce wisely.
The Scotsman IceMobile will make its stop in Long Beach on June 7, from 9AM to 3PM at the Friedman Appliance Center, located at 1827 E. Spring Street. The event is free and BBQ will be served as well.
