8:41am | If you’ve had a tough time this fall without the Good Foot, your funk/soul dance infusion that came around each month like calendrical clockwork for 13 years until September, here comes a ray of sunlight breaking through the clouds.

No, co-founder and Good Foot mainstay Dennis Owens is not second-guessing his long-in-the-making decision to close up shop, but he’s choosing to preserve the tradition of a Christmas Night Good Foot. So get out your old boogie shoes — or unwrap your new ones — because beginning at 9pm on December 25, Alex’s Bar will play host to all comers who want to dance the Yule away.

“I didn’t really have any plans to give that up,” says Owens of the Xmas Good Foot. “I haven’t totally quit the Good Foot, but now it’s just once a year. […] It’s such an easy proposition — no stress, no hassle. […] It’s almost like a class or family reunion. I get to see a lot of people I haven’t seen all year. […] It’s a great excuse to unwind after Christmas.  A lot of people get really stressed out from all the shopping. I think once Christmas is done, everyone wants to unwind. Hopefully people can do that effectively at the Good Foot Christmas.”

And they — we — can do so for free. Consider it your final Christmas gift. Hey, you’ve been good all year, right? You deserve it.

Alex’s Bar is located at 2913 E. Anaheim St. (next to the Auto Zone; entrance in the back). Phone: (562) 434-8292.
