10:01am | The 58th annual Kids Fishing Rodeo, one of the signature events of the city of Long Beach’s summerlong Sea Festival, is quickly approaching.

The Friday, Aug. 5, event, held at the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier, is open to all youth ages 16 and under, though youth ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The event is hotsed by the Tuna Club of Southern California and Alfredo’s Beach Club and is free to all participants. Fishing poles and tackle will not be provided; all those who participate must bring their own rods and reels, though free bait and instruction will be available.

The Kids Fishing Rodeo will kick off at 8 a.m. and run through noon.

Prizes will be given away in various categories, including trophies to the top three little fishers.
