11:01am | Editor’s note: Long Beach Post reader Yvonne shares photos of a recent whale-watching excursion she took courtesy of the Aquarium of the Pacific and Harbor Breeze Cruises, which have teamed to offer the public the “Blue Whales & Sea Life Cruises” off the coast of Long Beach.

The Blue Whales and Sea Life Cruise sets sail from the Aquarium of the Pacific twice daily at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The three-and-a-half hour excursion on a specialized, high-speed catamaran provides guests with the opportunity to see dolphins, sea lions, seals, sea birds, blue whales and their calves and other whale species in the wild.

Blue whales are the largest animal on the planet, according to the aquarium, and they are an endangered species. On the trip, guests will learn from aquarium experts how to help these and other marine mammals whose habitats are being destroyed by pollution and other factors.

Tickets for the cruise are $63.95 for adults, $39.95 for children 11 and under and $55.95 for seniors 62 and older. Ticket prices include both the cruise and admission to the aquarium and can be purchased in advance by calling 562-590-3100 or online at AquariumofPacific.org.
