The early application deadline for the Leadership Long Beach (LLB) Institute program is Tuesday, May 31 in order to receive a waiver of the $25 application fee.

Since it was founded in 1989 by some of the community’s most influential stakeholders, over 1,000 graduates have completed the program and gone on to serve the Long Beach community in a variety of meaningful ways, according to a release. The mission of the program is to strengthen both adult and youth leaders to serve the public good.

Sessions cover current and various topics, including, but not limited to, education, sustainable communities, arts and culture, business, tourism, environment, city infrastructure and public safety. The program also fosters relationships between its participants and those who see and face challenges within the community, according to the release.

“We are looking for individuals from all parts of our community who want to work with others to make Long Beach the best it can be,” stated Jeff Williams, executive director of Leadership Long Beach. “Since 1989, we have brought together those with a diversity of interests, a cadre of skills and a passion for a better Long Beach. We are looking for the leaders to help shape the next 25 years.”

Additionally, the program’s current students will present their class projects to the public on Monday, June 6 at 5:30PM at the Long Beach Playhouse. The event gives insight to anyone interested in joining the leadership program. You can register for the free event here.

The application is available at the Leadership Long Beach website here and can be mailed or hand-delivered to their offices at 743 Atlantic Avenue.
