In 1986, St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach became to the Comprehensive AIDS Resource and Education (C.A.R.E.) program to support not just the HIV/AIDS community, but throughout Los Angeles County as a whole.

Founded by emergency room social worker Jennifer Andrews, the program has earned the reputation as the quintessential standard in providing HIV specialty care and services, where–in stark contrast to initial HIV/AIDS programs–instead of an entire focus on the medical paradigm of the disease, the social, psychological, educational, and overall health of the patient was taken into consideration.

On Thursday, September 27, over two dozen restaurants throughout Long Beach will be donating 20% of your bill to C.A.R.E.

To cap off the event, honorary chair of C.A.R.E. to Dine, Vice Mayor Robert Garcia, will host an afterparty at Sky Room at 8PM.

“I am honored to serve as honorary chair of the C.A.R.E to Dine event, and as host of the fundraising after-party,” said Vice Mayor Robert Garcia in a release to the press. “St. Mary’s contribution to the health of our community is incredible, and I am very grateful to all the sponsors, including Jet Blue and all our local participating restaurants.”
