Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews’s office announced today the opening of Long Beach’s first Night Market, coming in July.

The Midtown Night Market is set to open Sunday, July 10 in Cambodia Town, and will run from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. According to a statement from the councilman’s office, the Midtown Night Market is “one of Councilman Dee Andrews’s visions to create a more vibrant midtown, as well as, to provide residents a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products.”

“I am so excited to see this farmer’s market opening. It’s is going to be a warm, friendly, and safe environment dedicated to supporting the success of our small local farms, farmers, and local businesses, while making affordable and healthy food accessible to the community and its members,” Andrews said in a statement. “In addition, it will tie the people of the community together through the creation of a friendly environment where everyone can meet, connect, and grow.”

According to his office, Andrews allocated $10,000 of one-time funding to jump-start the farmers market. The nonprofit Cambodia Town, Inc. will manage the project.

According to Andrews’ office, the market will also include sports and fitness classes, such as Pilates and Zumba, health and wellness workshops on everything from dance to yoga to stress management, learning opportunities on subjects such as financial literacy, live entertainment from local artists, a kid’s space with music and art, and more.

The Midtown Night Market opens in Cambodia Town on Sunday, July 10, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, at MacArthur Park, located at 1321 East Anaheim Street. The market will be open Sunday evenings through the end of summer.
