Sports, cigars, barbecue and “not another tie” seem to be the trending words and phrases of enticement to get dad out and about this Father’s Day. But why not try a couple less traditional ways of celebrating all that dad does for his kids (whether they’re grown or still growing), such as going for a jog along Long Beach’s seaside shore or stepping up and learning how to braid hair. You never know when your daughter might need a little help with that!
See below for five ways to celebrate dad this weekend, from a three-course prix-fixe dinner in naples to a fun run along the beach, we’ve got you covered.

Before you take in an especially large amount of calories during brunch or dinner on Sunday, take a jog down Long Beach’s beautiful pedestrian path and achieve a fun run medal, truly a shiny reminder that you can eat anything you want for the rest of the celebratory day. Make sure to wear sunscreen, lightweight clothing and drink plenty of water to prepare for the weekend heat wave.

And there’s always room for dessert, especially if it involves a strawberry-rhubarb tart with vanilla cream or almond cake with mascarpone gelato. Did you say gelato?
